HOTEL CORAZÓN REVIEW:
Let’s not beat around the bush here, this hotel is absolutely one of the most visually stunning places we have ever laid eyes on. Husband and wife duo, Kate Bellm and Edgar Lopez run the beautifully restored 16th-century finca, located along the winding coastal roads between Deià and Sóller. Originally intended to be a space for artists residencies, first-time hoteliers Kate, a fashion photographer, and Edgar, an artist and horticulturist, have created a one-of-a-kind hotel that invites guests into a world of exploration, artistic elegance, and jaw-dropping nature.
We really, really, desperately wanted to come away from our stay at Hotel Corazón with the overwhelming feeling that this is quite literally the best hotel we’ve ever stayed at. And yet it didn’t quite turn out that way. Here’s why.
Firstly, at this price point we expected breakfast to be included, which was a bit disappointing. The pool area and views were magnificent, but the seating areas felt a bit clunky with too many shaded areas and few spots in the sun. The service on the whole was good, but we weren’t bowled over by the food offerings. We stayed in the La Cueva room, which again, was undoubtedly a visual feast for the eyes, but its practicality was somewhat to be desired - the beautiful egg-shaped shower flooded the bathroom, the AC wasn’t in the bedroom (resulting in a very hot night’s sleep in September) and the lack of sunlight made us feel like we were staying in a beautifully renovated cave.
Admittedly, we did not see the other rooms, which may allow for a better sleeping experience. However, we did come away wondering if this hotel is a case of a bit more style over substance. We’ll let you decide.
